Redskins tackle buys outrageous necklace

While many NFL players have picked up extra jobs or changed their spending habits during the league's lockout, others have taken a much different approach.

Redskins tackle Trent "Silverback" Williams, for example, dropped six figures on a custom-made piece of bling.

The necklace, shaped like a gorilla, is shown in the video below.

It's gaudy, that's for sure. The guy who presumably created this monstrosity quoted the necklace out between $100,000 and $150,000. He says it contains 400 to 500 carats of black and white diamonds.

Ridiculous features include massive eyeballs made of diamonds, the word "SILVERBACK" on the bottom, the state of Texas in its mouth and a diamond earring... in a gorilla made out of diamonds. Hm. Probably not a ton of resale value on that.

The thing looks to weigh a few pounds, but the size of it makes it look like a guitar amp.

The 6-foot-5, 318-pound Williams signed a six-year, $60 million contract, nearly $37 million of which was guaranteed money. And it looks like he'll be spending that money as if he won the lottery, not as if he wanted to invest that money.

The Washington Times reported last month that Williams "has been noticeably absent from offseason player-organized workouts." Looks like they could have found him at the jewelry store.
